Buttonholes round off a product visually. In a shirt, they are always in the field of vision and therefore play a decisive role in the appearance of the garment.
Extensive sewing kinematics paired with a perfect cutting system and electronic upper thread tension make your buttonholes a guarantee for top quality. The 540 also has a lot to offer in terms of flexibility, no matter whether you need buttonholes in outerwear, workwear or belt feed-throughs in the automotive sector. The stepper motor-controlled knife makes buttonhole cuts even more precise and the cut length can be adjusted independently of the buttonhole length.

For knitwear multiple circulations can be set to stabilize the buttonhole and to prevent stretching. The sewing equipment E 164/22 allows an improved tensioning of the material for an optimal sewing result. For buttonholes in polo shirts a specially designed cloth clamp (E 146/22) improves the clamping of the material. By means of a narrower edge safe clamping is possible in spite of the seam allowance.
Sensitive materials
To prevent markings in sensible fabrics caused by the cloth clamp it is recommended to use a cloth clamp with foam of Vulkollan coating (e.g. sewing equipment E 154/35).
Lining triangle
When sewing buttonholes in lining triangles the equipment for lining triangles (SO-No. 16S1011) facilitates the consistently central positioning. The operator places the prefabricated triangle on the device and pushes it to the sewing head. The sewing process is started automatically when the triangle is positioned correctly.
Buttonhole in collar
In order to sew buttonholes in collars of shirts and blouses the 540-10 can be equipped with E 133/22. The special narrow cloth clamp simplifies the positioning of the fabric.
Seat belt guides
The 540-10 is also ideal for the production of seat belt guides for child safety seats and seat pads of children’s pushchairs etc. With the special sewing equipment 540 E 126/70 buttonhole lengths of up to 70 mm and buttonhole widths of max. 6 mm can be sewn.
Without marking - perfectly positioned
In order to eliminate the time-consuming marking of buttonhole positions when processing many different collar and cuff shapes cardboard templates can be used as a guide (0540 590 154). An advantage is the simple, fast and convenient self-manufacture (blanks, cardboard 0540 590204).
Ladies’ wear and workwear
The 540-10 is excellently suitable for the production of ladies’ wear and workwear. It offers a great variety of different buttonhole shapes and processes both very light-weight as well as medium-weight materials at a high speed. Due to the electronic thread tension two-coloured buttonholes can be realized.
